In-Studio Birthday Party Info and Project Ideas

Noa’s Art was THE perfect place for my daughter’s 6th birthday party.  It is so challenging to find a great party if your kid has a birthday in a month when the kids can’t be outside.  Noa worked hard to make the party extra special and my daughter and I were delighted with the results.  Noa’s artist studio is a perfect place to introduce art to kids and Noa is a great teacher who really understands kids. I would have a party there every year!

Please call Noa at (401) 481-5737 to book an appointment to see the studio and discuss possible project ideas that will be right for your child and his/her friends.  Samples can be provided for any of the projects below on request. A final price will be quoted when a project has been selected, and a deposit of half that amount will be due upon the signing of the event contract.

The following project ideas are just a starting point; the sky’s the limit and we can create a custom project to fit any theme or interest.  Price of the party will be determined by the cost of materials and amount of supervision/instruction needed for the project you select.   Please call if you would like to get a quote on or see samples of any of the following:

Party 1: Group Murals  You choose a theme and I prepare a background scene for it on a large sheet of paper.  Each guest will create an individual element reflecting the theme and they will all be temporarily taped to the background scene.  We will take a photo of the group mural which you can make copies of to use for your thank-you cards if you wish.  Afterwards each guest can remove their contribution to the project and take it home to display.  Some suggestions for themes are: Jungle, Under the Sea, Outer Space, Medieval Castle, Butterfly Garden, Dinosaurs, On the Beach, Pet Store, At the Zoo, At the Circus, Pirate Ship, and on and on.

Party 2: Free-play Stations You select up to five different art materials for your guests to try.  I set them up throughout the room and up to four guests can visit each station at a time.  They can add to one project as they visit each station and try the different processes/materials.  Assistants will be posted at any stations that require supervision or assistance.

Party 3: Drawing Lesson Perfect for guests age 9 and older.  The birthday child chooses a subject to be taught and I will instruct guests step-by-step in how to draw it.  Each guest will receive a personal sketch pad, pencil and eraser to take home as their favor.

Party 4: Seasonal Craft Reflect the special time of the year in which the birthday falls.  Some examples are: Snowmen sculptures, flip-flop and beach bag decorating, etc.

Party 5: Splatter Painting When you don’t have to worry about cleaning up, why not go crazy with the paint?  Tarps will be laid out against a wall on which is posted a large sheet of paper.  We write “Happy Birthday Name “on the paper with masking tape.  Each guest gets a smock, hat and goggles and a different color of paint to splatter at the paper.  Once all the guests have had a chance to splatter the paper and it is completely covered, we remove the tape and the birthday message remains.  We can take photos of this to give to your guests as a thank-you card later.

Party 6: Art Games and Contests A series of non-competitive super-fun games get guests interacting and using their imaginations.  Example: Each guest begins by drawing on a sheet of paper as music plays; when music stops each person passes their paper to the person on their right and everyone begins to add to the paper they receive; this continues until each paper comes full-circle (names are initially written on each paper)

Party 7: Edible Art Choose from fruit, vegetables, candy or cereal as materials for your guests to use to create delicious works of art.  Each creation will be photographed before being gobbled up!

Party 8: Paint a Piece of Furniture Guests will take turns painting and decorating a single large piece of unfinished furniture (such as chair, rocking horse, toy chest, shelves, etc.) for the birthday child to keep.  Each guest will get a photo of the finished piece, as well as decorate an individual wooden item to take home.

Party 9: Face Painting Guests will take turns painting eachother’s entire faces and a group photo will be taken at the end.  Guests will receive their own personal face-painting kit to take home.

Party 10: Art Car Magnets Birthday kid’s family car will become an Art Car for the day as each guest creates thin magnets to stick to it.  Guests will paint, cut and decorate their magnets which they will later get to keep.  Guests get to help stick the magnets all over the vehicle and a photo will be taken.  The car will be driven for as long as your family wishes and the magnets can later be removed and distributed to the guests.

Party 11: Project Runway The birthday kid will be the model as guests hurry to decorate his/her existing clothing using the materials provided.  For example: Birthday girl comes in wearing a plain simple dress and guests must transform it into a ball gown using only duct tape.  A photo will be taken  at the end.

Party 12: Paint an Apron Each guest will paint and decorate a canvas apron to take home and use as an art smock!  A group photo will be taken at the end.

Party 13: Portrait and Frame Party (limit 10 guests) Noa will draw a black and white 8×10 portrait of each guest one at a time using one of her standard backgrounds; meanwhile guests will be decorating their own wooden frames for their portrait.  A group photo will be taken with guests holding up their framed portraits at the end.

Party 14: Origami Recommended for ages 9 and up; birthday child gets to choose the projects in advance from a book.  Each guest will receive a package of origami paper as a favor in addition to the projects they complete during the party.

Party 15: Make a Pinata What party would be complete without a pinata- and how about one you make yourself?  Everyone will decorate a prepared balloon-shaped form to create a unique pinata which we will fill with candy, photograph and play with (due to limitations of the studio the pinata will be the pull-string type).  Guests will also decorate their own loot bags to take home.  Birthday child gets to keep the empty pinata.

Party 16: Pop-up Cards Guests will learn how to make a special pop-up birthday card for the birthday child, as well as several types they can take home.  This is a skill they can use over and over for many upcoming occasions.

Party 17: Book-making Guests will create several simple book types including both sewn  and accordian-bound models. They can choose from a variety of beautiful hand-made papers to cover their books and spend any extra time doodling or writing inside.

Party 18: Sew a Stuffed Animal An experienced seamstress will lead guests in designing, sewing and stuffing their own stuffed animals

Party 19: Puzzles Each guest will decorate a cardboard jigsaw puzzle (putting their initials on the back of each piece) and then trade with other guests to play.  Various puzzle-piece sizes are available for different age levels.

Party 20: Zoetrope Animation (Recommended for ages 9 and up) The zoetrope is a spinning animation device invented in 1834 long before cartoons existed.  Guests will learn to appreciate animation as they create their own 12-frame mini “movies” to view in the zoetrope.  Instructions on how to build your own zoetrope will be provided to each guest.

Party 21: Self Portrait (Ages 5 and up)  Using colorful scrapbook and cardstock papers, yarn and decorations, guests will make an image as unique as they are!  First we will look at some examples of famous self portraits by Van Gogh, Kahlo, Rembrandt, Degas and more.  We will pass around a mirror to observe our particular features, noting our eye, hair and skin colors and the shape of our faces and features.  Then the fun begins!  This is the ultimate PERSONALIZED project.

Party 22: Puppet Show (Ages 5 and up) Pick a theme and Noa will create premade puppet parts for your guests to assemble and decorate.  Colorful fasteners allow arms and legs to move up and down, while a wooden dowel provides the support for the body.  Each guest will get a moment to shine as we put on an impromptu puppet production for the parents at the end of the party!

-Infinity…You choose your project! Part of the fun of having an art party can be coming up with a totally original project idea for your guests!  The possibilities are endless, so feel free to run any ideas you have by me to see if we can make it happen.   The only limitations are your budget and the size of the studio…
